The American College, Madurai, hosted a memorable Alumni Reunion of the 1997 Commerce batch on Sunday, 09 November 2025, at the Humanities Hall. The gathering brought together former classmates who returned to their alma mater to reconnect, reminisce, and celebrate the enduring bonds formed during their years on campus.

The reunion, themed “Reconnect and Reminisce,” created a warm and reflective atmosphere as alumni shared memories of student life and revisited the experiences that shaped their academic and professional journeys. The event served as an opportunity to reaffirm their connection with the institution and with one another, strengthening lifelong friendships.

Dr. J. Paul Jayakar, Principal & Secretary of The American College, warmly welcomed the alumni back to campus and expressed his appreciation for their continued engagement with the College. He acknowledged the spirit of commitment demonstrated by the batch and highlighted the importance of alumni participation in sustaining the College’s legacy and community life.

A significant highlight of the reunion was its historic distinction as the first-ever “Reunion with a Cause” organised under the banner of the Alumni Association. As part of this initiative, the 1997 Commerce batch collectively pledged to sponsor five students through the Alumni Lighthouse, the academic adoption initiative of the Alumni Association. Dr. V. P. Sagimaynonathan, Director of the Alumni Association, commended the batch for their generous contribution, noting that it reflected the College’s enduring values of service, excellence, and community spirit.

The reunion concluded as a proud and meaningful milestone, reinforcing the lifelong relationship between alumni and The American College. The event stood as a powerful example of how alumni engagement can blend celebration with social responsibility, enriching both the institution and its future generations.
